Concrete, paint, stone, steel, sound, lighting, and projection
Art installation
Atlanta, GA
Room as Instrument (2026) brought sculpture, sound, light, projection, and movement together in a single spatial environment at SITE 2026, The Goat Farm Arts Center, Atlanta. Conceived and directed by Lisa Li, who made the sculptures and designed the layout, lighting, color, and material relationships. Steven Benton (TBD Design) developed the kinetic and projection elements. André White (Monsieurblanc) installed the speakers and curated the music.
The installation begins with matter. Stone, steel, sound, light, and motion occupy a shared architectural field, each establishing its own relationship to space. No single element leads. The works unfold as a sequence of material conditions through which visitors encounter weight, movement, resonance, and reflection.
The title refers to the room itself as the instrument: sculpture, sound, light, and movement each played a part, and the experience existed only as a whole.
